Baritone Reissue with Hot-wound Lipstick Pickups

This sharp-dressed Baritone reissue from the 2019 Danelectro collection delivers the bass down low — real low. We're talking B to B. That's a perfect fourth below standard E to E tuning. And whether you're a downtuned country picker, a drop-tuned hard rocker, or an accompanist/recording artist on the prowl for alternate open-chord voicings, the Danelectro Baritone is built to take your music in exciting new directions. The hybrid 29.75"-scale-length maple neck makes a comfortable transition for bass players and guitarists both. Electronics-wise, two high-output lipstick pickups driven by a simple 3-way selector permit quick access to those coveted Dano Bari tones, along with a sweet, throaty breakup that won't leave you drowning in amp noise. All the while, classic Danelectro stylings — the Art Deco single-cut body style and iconic Dolphin headstock — make this bari a sweet addition to any collector's showcase.

Country to rock and beyond

Early Danelectro Baritones made waves in the Nashville scene with their percussive "tic-tac" bass lines and throaty open voicings. Today's Baritone reissue is a highly versatile instrument that's perfect for modern rock and singer accompaniment.

High-output lipstick pickups

Danelectro's fabled lipstick pickups have captured the imaginations of countless guitarists throughout the ages. This Baritone's high-output lipstick single-coils hark back to the vintage tones of rock's earliest days. The result is a bari sound that truly stands alone — a defined attack, a formidable bottom end, and a healthy dose of midrange punch and top-end zing. Additional windings give this bari added output to drive an amp hard. And with its 3-way pickup selector and simple master volume/tone, you will have no trouble finding a sound for your music.

Adjustable intonation

Along with its smooth, responsive, bolt-on maple neck and pau ferro fingerboard, the '67 Dano features an adjustable saddle bridge, so you can set your intonation to your liking — a feature we really appreciate here at Sweetwater.

You need one

I was really curious about baritone guitars since I love low end sound. After watching some videos online with this model and went for it. I have zero regrets of any kind. It's such a soulful sounding guitar and is loud even not plugged in presumably due to the chambered body. Came with unidentified gauge of strings, but they are perfect. The neck feels great, and I can move across the fret board on this with ease. For reference, I usually play a Strat, a Paranormal short scale, or a Reverend. So far, this Baritone is the easiest one to play and I thought the Strat was easy-moving! You can't beat the quality and sound for the price. My only gripe is the incredibly limited case situation, but that's not a deal breaker for me. I wrote on a song on it right away and will be heading to the studio next with this sweet axe.

Yes you need a Baritone!

As an aged musician that still has an original vintage 1959 Danelectro wish book. I didn't blink when I saw this New Baritone. The old guitar has the wanky rosewood bridge that's never failed. Masonite body etc. I didn't know what to expect with these new retro models. I ordered the Black Sparkle one. Wow it's gorgeous! Came ready to play right out of the box. Perfect finish, fretboard, and all electronics passed QC. I just keep it tuned to B. Getting the Spaghetti Western MoJoe I was hoping for. It's very lightweight and comfortable to play. I'll definitely purchase another Danelectro guitar from Sweetwater. If you have doubts on Chinese or Indonesian manufacturing toss that doubt away. 68% of Guitars are being purchased by Asians! They want a quality built affordable guitar so the make them!

Awesome baritone!

Bought this after falling in love with my Danelectro '64XT. Feel, fit, and finish are fantastic for a guitar in this price range. And the sound...everything I'd hoped for. Bridge pickup gives you that Pet Sounds tic-tac, and the neck pickup is instant Twin Peaks theme. Love it!! Shout out to Chris Lewis, as always - I ordered online, but he made sure to follow up in person. Thanks, Chris!!

I love this thing!!

Nice fat baritone low end!! Great build quality! Super lightweight. This thing sounds incredible with a nice fuzz pedal. For an incredible baritone sound without breaking the bank look no further!!

Don’t Hesitate, buy one NOW!

I snagged this guitar after my lady found out one of her music icons played one of these (Phoebe Bridgers) I initially wasn't sure but I figured for the price tag I couldn't go wrong. And boy is this thing cool. Aside from the how cool the finish is, the neck and overall playability are great. Fret work is really good and it weighs hardly anything. I never really realized how much fun a baritone would be, but they're a boat load of fun for all applications. This is a seriously good budget buy!
