Jim Marshall's Original Fuzz Pedal

A re-creation of the rare Park Fuzz Sound pedal released by Jim Marshall's Park Amplification company in 1968, the EarthQuaker Devices Park Fuzz delivers timeless classic-rock distortion. According to the legend EarthQuaker Devices told us when they visited Sweetwater in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the original Tonebender series pedal featured a pair of unlabeled TO-1 package transistors. The original schematic wasn't much help, but careful scrutiny led the engineers at EarthQuaker Devices to select special NOS germanium transistors to play the part. In the resulting reissue, when you set the Fuzz control on the Park Fuzz to 12 o'clock, you get the creamy distortion of the original cranked all the way, and there's still plenty more fuzz tone on tap.

From the pedal gurus at EarthQuaker Devices

EarthQuaker Devices is a boutique pedal company based out of Akron, Ohio. They put all of their focus on building tools for musicians to find their own tone. Their designs range from enhanced classics to pedals that have never been seen or heard before. Company founder Jamie Stillman was working with rock band the Black Keys when he came upon a design that kick-started the company's success. EarthQuaker Devices is committed to helping you find your tone with high-quality products at great prices.

Absolutely Fantastic Fuzz Pedal

Got this today from Sweetwater, and I can say I'm blown away by the versatility of this pedal and how totally great it is!
I'm a learner guitar player of 1 year and am not a great musician by any means. But I have also built 3 guitars (not kits) and modded some others, I do understand a bit about good sound production.
The Park Fuzz gets it done! Had it about an hour, and got some great Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters and The Kinks sounds through it already. Can't wait to explore it's options more.

Highly recommend for anyone, but even with the limited experience I Have I can still have so much fun playing and exploring its range.

Played through a Epi LP, with Mojotone PAF Clone Humbucker pickups, and a Squire Strat with Deluxe Drive pickups, and a Bugera V5 tube amp. Run it along in a chain at times with a MXR M77 Custom Badass on some songs for extra break up.
Music background: Learner, just having a great time playing and learning.

Modern take at a Tonebender?

I have to say, I have no experience with a real Tonebender of any kind. Not new to fuzz, this is a real piece of work. Hand built and sweet af. I started with everything at noon. Sounded ok, then I turned to treble/bass knob to the left. More treble. Wow!! The thing came ALIVE! Maybe 11 o'clock or so. That was it. Love! The gain is supposed to be maxed at noon. As per the original. So eqd added a bit more gain to it. WOW!! Totally blown away!

Its Ge so it has some warmth to it. Real body that is a beauty to behold. Its got the sizzle when you want it but also has a bit of thump if you so desire. A great fuzz for something different then a Dunlop fuzz face.

You can never have enough drive pedals. Same with fuzz. Buy this pedal and add some flavor to your fuzz arsenal!

Great

Best tonebender I have used, such a great fuzz.

Great Pedal!!

This is a great fuzz. Even a little of the effect goes a long way. Sweetwater needs to edit the tech specs for this pedal. It does not take a 9 volt battery as it states you need an adapter.

great vintage should

Full disclosure, I did return this pedal. Not because it wasn't good, it just wasn't the flavor of fuzz I was going for. I felt like this was a faithful recreation of the tonebender. I have a couple of variations of the TB circuit that have been designed with significant creative license and wanted to check out something closer to the original circuit.

The tone control is wild, different than any other tone control I've experienced. The treble/bass changes drastically when adjusted giving a wide array of flavor. Unlike many tone controls that are often a passive filter of some sort, this tone control is VERY noticeable. I would have liked the fuzz control to have an equal amount of variation in gain, but that's how the circuit was built. It cleaned up nicely with both a S-style and LP-style guitar. There was plenty of volume and I never felt it was lacking umpf.

I was going for something a little more gritty and velcro-like. I would characterize this pedal as robust, textured and semi-smooth with a whisper of high gain sizzle.
