Sweetwater-exclusive Tweed Princeton

The Fender '65 Princeton Reverb Lacquered Tweed electric guitar tube combo amplifier is a Sweetwater exclusive! Fender used the beloved '65 Princeton Reverb as a starting point, then they added a beautiful and vintage-style lacquered tweed covering that will transport you back to the great Fenders of the 1950s. The speaker has been beefed up to a 12" Eminence Cannabis Rex for its blend of smoothness and sparkle. And of course you still have that magnificent Fender spring reverb and tremolo onboard. The '65 Princeton Reverb Lacquered Tweed will add a lot to any collection.

A legendary amplifier design

When Fender originally released their Princeton guitar amplifier, their intent was to offer a good practice amplifier for guitarists needing to work on their chops. But the model quickly caught on with professional and gigging guitarists for how effortlessly it delivered both chiming cleans and sweet tube-amp breakup. Whether speaking about the original tweed designs in the 1950s or the iconic Blackface models of the '60s, the Princeton has been a mainstay with players for over 50 years.

Vintage-inspired look

The Sweetwater-exclusive Fender '65 Princeton Reverb Lacquered Tweed blends elements of two of the most sought-after eras of the combo. While the circuitry is based on the clear-as-a-bell Blackface models, these amps boast a stunning lacquered tweed covering that imparts a '50s old-school appearance. And Fender's vintage-style brown and gold grille cloth helps finish off the look. If you've always loved the tonal characteristics of a Fender Blackface but favor the warm, inviting look of a tweed, this amp's for you.

Same iconic tone, just bigger

The amplifier's appearance isn't the only new addition to the '65 Princeton Reverb Lacquered Tweed. Fender also outfitted this little giant with a 12" Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker. Not only does a larger speaker (original Princeton Reverbs come with a 10" speaker) offer a more powerful low end and better projection, but the Cannabis Rex is a favorite for how clear and chiming its top end is, without ever being strident. And the traditional Fender spring reverb and tremolo add all the swampy goodness these amps are known for.

In love with with my Princeton Reverb

After a few years of laying off playing, I decided to get my first Fender guitar and first ever tube amp. I am so glad I went with this Sweetwater limited edition version with the 12" Cannabis Rex speaker. The tone is even better than what I was hoping for. It's inspiring to play through and looks every bit as great as it sounds. Thank you to Halaj for checking in and making sure all went well!

Great Amo

I bought the Princeton 65 Laquer tweed and it s a Killer amp! It's far louder than 12 Wayts should be,
Great tones.the 12" Parker has Girth and Balls…
If you need a small light weight tube amp look no further!

Perfect for my needs

I wanted an amp that would be a good pedal platform, wasn't too loud for bedroom use, wouldn't break my back dragging it up my drummer's stairs, but could still keep up with said drummer. This Princeton Reverb satisfies all of those needs and sounds GREAT doing it. It sounds so good that I don't even really use many pedals with my AmPro II Telecaster, occasionally a Tube Screamer but that's about it. The reverb sounds great, it can really get out of hand on higher settings so I keep it at or below 3. Tremolo is great too, I'm never going crazy with trem but there's a good range of options. My only gripe after about a month of playing with it is that the power switch is a little annoying to get to if you have the amp backed up to a wall, but it sounds so good I don't really care. If you're on the fence and doubting all the hype, just buy it. You won't regret it.

Great Sweetwater Amp

Mine arrived with 2 defective tubes but after I replaced them it sings like a canary. The C.Rex is very smooth and sweet sounding.
Great amp for clean tones and jazz. The reverb is really nice. The tweed is very nicely done. No complaints.
Great amp and great price. IMO much better than the stock Princeton with a 10 inch speaker. Cheaper too.

Every Guitar sounds amazing on this Princeton

I have tried several amps over the years, but was never quite happy with them. If I had bought this in the beginning, even with the investment, I would have found my forever amp and not needed anything else. Amazing cleans. Takes pedals amazingly well. Have played it with P90s, HBs and single coils (Teles and Stats). Very usable reverb and tremolo. The Sweetwater edition in tweed and 12" Cannabis Rex speaker looks and sounds so good. Thanks very much to Matt Masek for helping make my decision and making the purchase so easy. Very happy with my purchase - sounds so good with my Cedarcaster, Cabronita, Strat and Wildkat.
