The Classic Opto-based Analog Autowah, Only Smaller

Robert Keeley likens his Neutrino V2 to having "Jerry Garcia in a bottle." And what can we say — straight out of the box, with the Range toggle set to Lo and every knob at 12:00, this pedal nails that elusive "Shakedown Street" autowah tone without any fuss. The secret lies in the Neutrino V2's 100% analog circuitry paired with hand-selected opto-couplers, which are of an even higher grade than you'll find in a mint vintage original. Neutrino's three filters types, two sweep directions, and a peak resonance control give you full control of your quacky chordal sweeps and vowel-like intensities. On the side, a recessed Direction switch takes this pedal from "wah" (closed to open) to "aw" (open to closed) based on your pick attack, while a mini Output control helps compensate for any perceived drops in volume. Beyond guitar, we're pleased to report that the Neutrino V2 holds its own on bass and keyboard instruments, which means extra mileage for you and your band live and in the studio. Even better, true bypass switching preserves your tone with the pedal disengaged, so you'll never have to worry about tone suck. If you've been chasing the vibe of that coveted classic autowah, Keeley's Neutrino V2 envelope filter is a pedal that definitely needs to be on your radar. Proudly made in the USA!

Premium analog opto-couplers

Keeley's take on the classic autowah/envelope filter beloved by Bob, John, and Jerry is the Neutrino V2. The latest version of this classic pedal manages to shrink the opto-coupler-fed analog design of the original into a standard pedal form factor. With the Neutrino V2 on your board, you can leave that mammoth III Series 'Tron locked up at home.

"The harder you pick, the harder it 'wahs'!" — Robert Keeley

Neutrino V2's dynamic filtering follows your pick attack, giving you full control of its vocal-like tones from your fingers — no rocker pedal required.

New side-mounted output control

Neutrino V2 now gives you an output control on the side of the pedal. Use this to compensate for any perceived volume loss when engaging the filters, or just abuse it to drive your amp harder.

Keeley Neutrino V2 Envelope Filter/Autowah Pedal Features:

  • The consummate autowah effect
  • Controlled by your picking intensity
  • Great for guitar, bass, and keys
  • Classic opto-coupler design imparts a rich, chewy depth

I was not looking for the Jerry G. Tone

When I bought this pedal I wanted the wah quack without using a wah pedal, something more unique than a fixed wah tone and I got so much more, easy too dial in. I have all custom Wilson Effects Pedals true bypass pedals, the stoned grasshopper is fuzz ts9 circuit and clean boost. Neutrino, noise killer, delay, univibe with chorus circuit, get some really amazing tones, sounds great with fuzz, delay, univibe or just clean boost not everyone's flavor. I use all true bypass pedals because my Strat and Tele have custom wound pickups, buffered pedals seem too kill my tone. Thanks too Sweetwater for there great service as always.

A little extra info to add to my other post

Now that I've played with it for a little longer, I've figured out the setting that gives the best Jerry tone (or as close to it as I can get without a middle pickup — Jerry, Mayer, Hamilton, and Kadlecic all play(ed) on their middle pickup if you watch closely) and posted a pic of the settings. On mine it sounds more like a hybrid of Jerry and Mayer playing Jerry. A volume pedal helps fine tune the effect without you having to ride your knobs like Trey. You can also flip the reverse switch on the pedal and turn up the gain a little for that dancing in the streets effect without having to change anything else. If these settings alone don't get you quite what you want, then you'll either need to get a middle pickup installed in your guitar or buy a new axe that has one. Probably getting one put in mine.

Jerry pedal!!!

I used to have an EH micro q-tron. It sucked. I wanted a mu-tron for a long time, but the size and price discouraged me. Then I saw the three leaf proton and really wanted that, but it was over $300. Finally I found the neutrino. I love my Keeley compressor so I didn't hesitate to buy this box.

After playing with it for about an hour I had Estimated Prophet and Shakedown Street dialed in, and Fire on the Mountain shouldn't be much of a stretch from there. Jerry's guitar tone comes more from the tone knob on the bridge pickup and very careful pick attack. That being said my old micro q-tron never approximated anything close to Jerry, no matter how I had my guitar and amp adjusted. This box is extremely responsive to dynamics, and you've gotta use a really light touch sometimes. I can't wait to try it on the reverse setting to get that awesome 5/8/77 dancing in the streets effect.

This pedal is versatile. The band pass and range selectors are set up really well for on the fly adjustments, say for if you're playing rhythm in the low range and then need to switch to the high range for a solo. The output volume pot needed no adjustment out of the box. It sounds phenomenal through my analog man silver circuit TS9

In conclusion, this is a great boutique effect pedal from a great American company. It makes my old micro q-tron look like a useless toy. The potential of this effect is only limited by the player's imagination. It's not just for Grateful Dead covers.

Pardon the messy pedalboard. I hadn't touched my rig since lockdown began.

Fantastic sound.

Experts and experienced enthusiasts will get a lot of of this pedal. I'm still early in my lessons, but this is fun to play with while I grow!
