Fab!

I work small venues with a one man show. I was surprised how sensitive and responsive this mic is. A good value and good performance. Stored correctly it should last for years. It is not made out of stainless steel. Batteries last about 9 hours and it works well with rechargeable ones.

Freedom to Move

I had been weighing a cordless microphone system for about 6 months starting in 2022. At first I was looking into the Shure system since I already use a corded BETA 58A that is top-shelf for my experience. However, there was a back-order on the Shure system in place due to a critical component shortage.

In the meantime, I was getting booked for more gigs where the freedom to interact with the audience without tripping over a cord was desirable. I did use a Sennheiser 835 mic in February this year at a large event, and I was hooked!!

Sennheiser came out with an upgraded receiver that is matched with the 835, so for $ savings I chose the "older" model system without hesitation. The sound quality through my very old Fender Passport 150 is amazing!!

I perform at nursing homes, so this wireless system is going to be perfect when I go out and have the residents sing along with me.

A shout out to my Sales Engineer Nick Huskins for always getting me intelligent answers to my questions when evaluating a new "toy."

Lightweight and met our needs

we purchased 3 new XSW 835 and the fit in with our system and worked well withour other Sennheiser mics. We have no cross talk and the new mic's are lighter than the older ones we have, so our vocalist are happy with them.

Sennheiser XSW 1-835

We use this mic in a Church setting. We also have a Sennheiser 100 series mic with 835 capsule in our mix. I knew when buying this, I might be dealing with some sort of compromises, but was pleasantly shocked that they are as minimal as they are.
First of all, this mic is feature packed...battery indicator on the stick, on/off switch, great sound.
I placed the receiver on stage and just plugged into the mic cable from the mic being replaced. I needed to do that to make the transition quick and didn't have the time or personnel to put it in the rack at FOH. It doesn't rack mount anyway, so it's not a big issue. I handed it to the singer and told them that they would be responsible for keeping it in fresh batteries. That's a "Plug and Play' as it gets.
Because I placed the receiver within 15 feet of the transmitter, I can't comment on distance issues but other reviewers had had no problems in that area.
I had read a couple of comments stating that the mic build was a bit cheap and the handling noise was a tad too much.
I high passed it at about 150 hz on our Behringer X32 and it works great. The build feel of the mic is not cheap at all and I would easily but several more if I needed them.
I give this a 4.5 out of 5 rating.
