6 Best Walrus Audio Pedals

The Slo Multi Texture Reverb pedal is the ideal introduction to Walrus Audio’s range. With its comprehensive selection of reverb settings which include ambient textures, gradual swells, and atmospheric tones, this pedal does way more than your average reverb stompbox. 

Priced under $200, the Slo Multi Texture is the perfect middle ground between high-end, boutique reverb pedals and lesser quality, budget options. The pedal’s controls are laid out intuitively, and I was impressed by the overall functionality of the device. 

Another standout quality of this Walrus Audio pedal is its dual-footswitch design. If you’d benefit from having the ability to control the decay and sustain time of the reverb, this pedal is a must-have. The footswitch on the right allows you to prolong the effect and build soundscapes using your guitar. 

The Julia V2 is one of Walrus Audio’s most popular offerings. Using analog circuitry, the pedal can produce many variations of chorus and vibrato, from understated modulation to extreme warbles. 

One of the reasons that this chorus and vibrato pedal is so popular amongst musicians is the extensiveness of its controls and parameters. These include an LFO with switchable waveforms and the “lag” control which is designed for adjusting the depth of the oscillator’s motion.

When I first analyzed the Walrus ARP-87 Multi-Function Delay pedal, I was intrigued by the unusual array of presets and controls it includes. Each of these modes provides a unique flavor of delay that transforms the sound of your instrument. 

The two algorithm settings which I found the most useful were “Lo-Fi” and “Analog”. The former reduces the clarity of the signal, making it sound less polished and rougher around the edges. The latter sounds like the warm delay tone you get from a vintage reel-to-reel tape recorder. 

If you prefer cleaner sounding delays with a more modern feel, “Digital” mode provides this. In addition to the four main presets, this pedal gives you control over the number of repeats that occur after the note is played, and it also includes a tap tempo footswitch for rhythmic consistency. 

With so many overdrive pedals on the market, it’s very difficult to know which device is best suited to your style of guitar playing. The Walrus Ages 5-state by Walrus Audio stands out amongst the crowd, due to its unique features and sonic capabilities. 

The secret to this overdrive pedal’s versatility lies in its 5-way selector control, which is displayed in roman numerals. By toggling through each mode, you can enjoy different varieties of overdrive, with contrasting colors, dynamics, and levels of saturation. 

Coming in at under $200, I believe that this Walrus effects pedal is very reasonably priced. In addition to offering five overdrive modes, it keeps noise issues that are sometimes associated with gain-based pedals to a minimum and is compatible with both lead and rhythm guitar playing. 

Reliable phaser pedals are a rarity, as this unique modulation effect is difficult for manufacturers to master. However, after experiencing the pulsating swirls of this Walrus pedal, we can add them to the shortlist of pedal brands that have done this effect justice. 

The nature of the phasing effect of the Walrus Audio Lillian pedal is determined by two core settings. Firstly, there is the classic 4-stage phasing which suits psychedelic rock guitar playing. Alternatively, you can choose the more dramatic 6-stage phasing, which more closely resembles the modulating you’d find in electronic music genres. 

After selecting the desired mode, the Lillian features many adjustable controls that can then be used to shape the color and rhythm of the phaser. By tweaking the four rotary controls, you can achieve a wide variety of dynamic, tonal, and rhythmic results. 

Arguably one of Walrus Audio’s most unique creations, the Walrus Audio Polychrome blends the world of flanging and vibrato. Like the aforementioned Lillian pedal, it includes many of the controls you’d expect to find on a modulation device, such as “Feedback”, “Rate”, and “Depth”. 

When testing this pedal, we were particularly fond of the two small switches located in its middle section. These switches allow you to toggle between the flanger and vibrato effects, and shape them to your liking.  

The all-analog design of this pedal ensures that it produces a warm, authentic sound that doesn’t sound artificial. It’s a great tool for making chord sequences or riffs more interesting by injecting some modulation into the mix.
